Cookie notice
Last updated: 01-10-2025
1. About this notice
This Cookie notice explains how the Inclusive Labor Institute (“ILI”, “we”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites and digital platforms (the “Platform”). It should be read together with our Privacy notice.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site recognize your device and remember information about your visit.
We also use similar technologies, such as local storage, pixels and scripts. Together, we refer to these as “cookies” in this notice.
3. How we use cookies
On the Inclusive Labor Institute Platform, we use cookies to:
- Help the site function properly and securely;
- Remember certain preferences where applicable;
- Understand, in aggregate, how visitors engage with our content so we can improve it;
- Support embedded services such as webinar recordings, videos and e-learning content.
We do not use cookies to sell your personal data.
4. Types of cookies we use
4.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the Platform to work and cannot be switched off in our systems. For example, they may:
- Keep you logged in as you navigate secure areas;
- Support basic security, load-balancing and session management;
- Remember your core cookie preferences.
You can set your browser to block these cookies, but parts of the Platform may then not function correctly.
4.2 Functional cookies
Functional cookies allow the Platform to remember certain choices you make, such as:
- Language or regional preferences (where available);
- Display or accessibility settings in your browser;
- Some preferences in our Moodle-based E-Learning Centre, such as your last visited section.
4.3 Analytics and performance cookies
Where in use, these cookies help us understand how people use the Platform, so that we can improve navigation, content and design. This may include:
- Which pages are most visited;
- Time spent on key pages or resources;
- Whether users encounter errors or broken links when using tools.
We use this information in aggregated form. Where required by law, analytics cookies are only set if you consent to them in our cookie banner or settings.
4.4 Embedded content and third-party cookies
We sometimes embed content or tools from other services, which may set their own cookies. Examples include:
- Videos or webinar recordings hosted on platforms like Vimeo;
- Forms and email subscription tools provided by Mailchimp, which we use to manage newsletters;
- Our Moodle LMS environment, which uses cookies to manage logins, sessions and course navigation.
These services have their own cookie or privacy policies, and their cookies are controlled by them, not by ILI directly.
5. Cookie consent and control
When you first visit the Platform, you may see a cookie banner or notice. Our intention is to follow this approach:
- Essential cookies: set by default, because they are needed for security and core functionality.
- Functional and analytics cookies: only set if you choose to allow them via the banner or settings.
- Third-party and embedded content: may only fully load if you accept the relevant cookie category (for example, “Analytics & media”).
A typical banner configuration we aim to use includes:
- A short explanation of why we use cookies and a link to this notice;
- An “Accept all” button for users who are comfortable with it;
- A “Save preferences” / “Essential only” option that keeps only strictly necessary cookies enabled;
- A “Manage settings” link or panel where you can fine-tune your choices by category.
You can also control cookies directly in your browser settings, where you can usually block, limit or delete cookies at any time.
6. How long cookies last
Some cookies are “session” cookies, which expire when you close your browser. Others are “persistent” cookies, which remain on your device for a specified period or until you delete them.
The exact duration depends on the cookie and the third-party service setting it. You can check and manage cookies in your browser's settings.
7. Changes to this notice
We may update this Cookie notice from time to time, for example when we add new services that use cookies or adjust how our cookie banner works. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
8. Contact
If you have questions about our use of cookies, you can contact us at info@inclusivelabor.org.
