Last updated: 01-10-2025
1. Introduction
These Terms of use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Inclusive Labor Institute (“ILI”, “we”, “our”, “us”) website and digital platforms, including the public site, ILI Hub, Partner Hub, event pages, and links to our Moodle-based E-Learning Centre (collectively, the “Platform”).
By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Platform.
You should also read our Privacy notice and Cookie notice, which explain how we handle personal data and cookies.
2. Who we are and how to contact us
The Inclusive Labor Institute is a knowledge and action hub focused on workers in the informal economy and women's economic empowerment. We work with a range of partners to generate and share research, tools, data and learning resources.
You can contact us regarding the Platform at info@inclusivelabor.org.
3. Eligibility and accounts
Many parts of the Platform are accessible without an account. Some areas—such as the Hub, Partner Hub, certain dashboards or the E-Learning Centre—may require registration or a login.
When you create an account or are granted access:
- You must provide accurate and up-to-date information;
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details;
- You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
If you register or act on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to do so.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Platform in a way that is consistent with our mission and with applicable law. In particular, you agree not to:
- Use the Platform in any way that violates applicable laws;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems or data;
- Introduce viruses, malware or other harmful code into the Platform;
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Platform;
- Harass, abuse, threaten or harm other users or partners in any way;
- Upload or share content that is unlawful, hateful, defamatory, discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate.
We may take steps to monitor and protect the security and integrity of the Platform, including investigating suspected misuse.
5. Content on the Platform
5.1 Our content
Unless otherwise indicated, the content on the Platform—including text, graphics, logos, images, reports, tools, dashboards, learning materials, webinar recordings and designs—is owned by ILI, the Global Fairness Initiative, our partners or our licensors, and is protected by intellectual property laws.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Platform and its content for:
- Personal learning and reference;
- Professional, organizational or research purposes aligned with improving labour rights, livelihoods and inclusion.
You may view content, download or print reasonable portions for your own use or your organization’s internal use, and share links to publicly available pages.
You must not, without our prior written permission:
- Reproduce substantial portions of content for sale;
- Remove or obscure copyright or attribution notices from our content;
- Use our logos, name or branding in a way that suggests endorsement or partnership where none exists.
Where content is published under a specific licence (for example, a Creative Commons licence), that licence will govern how you may use that content.
5.2 User-generated content
In some areas of the Platform (for example comments, discussion spaces or partner features, if enabled), you may be able to submit or upload content (“User Content”).
By submitting User Content, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, display, reproduce, adapt and share that content as needed to operate and improve the Platform and our work, subject to any more specific agreements we make with you.
We may remove or edit User Content at our discretion, particularly if it appears to violate these Terms or our mission.
6. Events, webinars and e-learning
The Platform may allow you to register for and participate in:
- Webinars, online events and workshops;
- Moodle-based e-learning courses and modules;
- Hybrid or in-person events advertised through the Platform.
Unless we state otherwise, content provided in these settings is for information and learning only and does not constitute legal, financial or professional advice. Views expressed by guest speakers or partners are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of ILI or the Global Fairness Initiative.
We may record webinars or events for later viewing. Where you join a recorded session, your participation (including contributions in chat or audio/video) may be captured. We aim to handle such recordings in line with our Privacy notice.
7. Third-party services and links
The Platform may link to or integrate services operated by third parties, such as partner websites, Zoom, Vimeo, YouTube, Mailchimp, Moodle or survey tools.
We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies or practices of these third parties. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Availability and changes to the Platform
We aim to keep the Platform available and up to date, but we do not guarantee that:
- The Platform, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted;
- The Platform will be free from errors or security issues.
We may suspend, withdraw or modify parts of the Platform for technical, security, operational or other reasons. Where changes significantly affect how you use a registered account, we may provide additional notice.
9. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Platform and all content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not make any warranties or guarantees—express or implied—regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability or suitability of the content for any particular purpose.
Nothing on the Platform is intended to replace independent professional advice, especially in relation to law, health, finance or employment decisions.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, ILI, the Global Fairness Initiative, our staff, advisors and partners will not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss or damage;
- Any loss of profits, data, goodwill or business opportunities;
arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Platform, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
11. Termination or suspension
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform (including any account) if:
- You materially breach these Terms or applicable laws;
- We reasonably believe your actions may harm other users, partners or the integrity of the Platform;
- We are required to do so for legal, donor or operational reasons.
You may stop using the Platform at any time and may request that we close your account where applicable.
Termination does not affect rights or obligations that by their nature should continue (for example, intellectual property rights, disclaimers or certain limitations of liability).
12. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Where changes are significant, we may provide additional notice, for example via the Platform homepage or via email to registered users.
If you continue to use the Platform after changes take effect, you are deemed to have accepted the updated Terms.
13. Contact
