A Space for Worker Voice.
The Inclusive Labor Institute (ILI) is a worker-led resource hub dedicated to understanding the conditions and experiences of the essential workers who power the informal economy and the future of work.
We provide a space for worker-led organizations to collect and share knowledge, tell their stories, and collectively advocate for a more just and secure future for workers.

Worker-Centered, Worker-Led
We believe that knowledge on the conditions of work should come from workers, and that the solutions to enable more decent work must be defined by workers themselves.
ILI provides a space where worker-led organizations can collaborate and advocate, and where worker-focused institutions can listen and learn.
Rooted in the Informal Economy
Launched by the Global Fairness Initiative and a coalition of grassroots partners, ILI provides a collaborative space to protect labor rights and create dialogues that promote socio-economic progress, ensuring that communities of promise can become centers of prosperity.
Learn About Our WEE Initiatives
Women and Informality
Women are perhaps the most vulnerable group in the informal sector, accounting for almost three quarters of the informal workforce in some developing countries. With cultural and social attitudes that relegate household and childcare duties to women, that limit their education or how far they may travel, informal work is often the only way for women to earn an income.
Our Values
These principles define how the Inclusive Labor Institute works and the culture we foster with partners.
